Camry The Camry has been the best-selling car in America for nine out of the last 10 years. (It got beaten one year by the Honda Accord.) Not only is the Camry now built in America, it has become fully embraced as part of middle-American suburban life. It even competes in Nascar races - in name at least. Even General Motors now knows the Camry is no longer considered a "Japanese car." According to Ad Age, GM will soon launch a new advertisement for the redesigned 2008 Chevrolet Malibu with the tag line, "We're tired of being a foreign car in our own country." In 1986, the Camry won Consumer Reports' first Best Buy award. A two-door version, the Camry Solara, was introduced in 1999, followed shortly by a convertible. A hybrid version was introduced in 2007.
